“What to expect”on a sunday morning

All visitors are warmly welcome to worship the Lord with us at St. John.

• Arriving 10 minutes before the 9:30 service start would help you get settled and ask any questions of the ushers and pastor.

• Accessible entry and seating are available from the side entrance. Please speak with an usher if you need assistance.
  

• There is no special dress code. Some worshipers dress more formally, while others dress casually; we simply ask that everyone dress respectfully.

• Although we do not have a parking lot, there is plenty of street parking available nearby.

• You do not need to know anything special before attending. The congregation is guided through the service using screens and the hymnal, including the spoken responses and hymns. You are welcome to participate as you are comfortable, or simply observe and learn.

• Children and families are most welcome in worship. Activity bags for children are available at the entrance to the sanctuary for your use.

• Please join us after the service for fellowship and a chance to meet members of our congregation. You are encouraged to stay for Bible Study as well!

• Worship at St. John is friendly and relaxed, while also reverent. Services typically last about one hour.

  Our worship includes confession and forgiveness, Bible readings, a sermon, a creed, prayers, hymns, and Holy Communion.

  Screens display the order of service, congregational responses, and the words to the hymns we sing.

  You are welcome to take your time, observe, and learn—there is no expectation that you will know everything right away. If you have questions, please feel free to ask an usher or a member of the congregation.

On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, as well as on festival Sundays such as Easter and Christmas, we are blessed to celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

In keeping with the regular practice of our church, Holy Communion is received by those who are baptized, instructed in the Christian faith, and united with us in our confession of faith.

This practice arises from our reverence for Christ’s Sacrament and our care for the spiritual well-being of all who receive it.

If you are visiting and are not currently a member of an LCMS congregation, we kindly ask that you speak with the pastor before receiving Holy Communion. Please call 507-369-8705, preferably the day before worship, so that he may have time to visit with you and provide pastoral care.

All visitors are warmly invited to come forward during Communion with their arms folded across their chest to receive a blessing from the pastor.
